I work for NZ Rugby as the Head of Health, Safety and Injury Management. I have been with NZR since August 2003, however started work in the ACC space 35+ years ago. Between my time at ACC and now at NZ Rugby, I was also National Operations Manager for a Third-Party Provider of AE Services – although this company no longer exists.

My role encompasses overall management of the ACC Accredited Employer Programme for NZ Rugby staff and contracted players. NZ Rugby is a self-managing AE which requires us to have an extensive knowledge of the ACC Act, regulations, entitlements, and processes. I am passionate about ensuring all support and entitlements are provided to our employees as quickly as possible to ensure an effective and timely return to their normal role. My role also manages the health and safety programme across the NZR Offices, National Teams and Provincial Unions. In addition to this I support our super rugby clubs in their health and safety management programme. 2025 will see us migrate from ACC’s health and safety assessment standards to ISO45001.

I have been on the NZAAE Executive Committee for many years and are currently an NZAAE representative to ACC’s AE reference group.

I’m always up for a chat and keen to share our experiences as a self-managing AE.
